Kopabeda Shiva Temple

Category Historic

Situated in Kopabeda, 4.5 km away from Kondagaon, near the Narangi river, the Shiva Temple is an incredible temple being one of its kind. This land of primitive Dandakaranya is considered the region of Banasur of the Ramayan era. Every year, on the occasion of Shivaratri, a huge Mela is organized here. The absolute tradition followed here is to pay homage to the main shrine of the village, which is famously known as Rajarao, situated near the river bank. A noteworthy fact is that the Shiva Linga’s size was very small when it was found compared to what it is now and has increased continuously.
