Head of the Department : District Education Officer
Functions, rules and duties –
Each revenue district will be an officer who will be called a District Education Officer. He will be the full administrative charge of education to the East Secondary School level in the district and he will supervise and control him. It will be subject to the Controller of Divisional Education Superintendent (now Joint Director Public Education)
Remarks: The Deputy Director School Education was replaced by the Madhya Pradesh School Education Department from the date 12.02.1985 in place of the District Education Officer. Now after the establishment of the district government, the district level posts will be upgraded again from 01.07.1999 with the designation of the District Education Officer. Will be known. The main duty of the District Education Officer will be as follows –
- Apart from direct administrative departments of higher secondary schools and training institutions affiliated to the training institutes, except for the departments of the department, direct administrative control over all the government education institutions till the middle level of their district.

- To advise local authorities and non-governmental organizations in all matters related to the education of their charge.
- Arrangement for organizing primary certificate examinations in your district.
- Inspecting the pre-primary, primary and middle schools in your district.
